Family Visit & A Rainy Wedding Day

Dan's parents came to visit us last week! We both got a day off for Veteran's Day, so they planned their trip around our long weekend. We love any chance we get to spend time with them since they live across the country in VA. Since we'll be traveling soon for the holidays, we decided to stay home and enjoy some R&R instead of taking a road trip like we often do on holiday weekends. We fixed dinner together at home in the evenings and played games until bedtime. It was perfect because we got to spend more quality time with Mom & Dad and also because Dan caught a cold mid-week and it was better for him to take it easy and get plenty of sleep.
Even though we worked most of the week, Mom & Dad drove to our companies and treated us to lunch. When they came to my work, I took them to my favorite lunch place, Abbey's BBQ.

And Dan took them to his favorite place by his work, In-N-Out. Any excuse to go there is a good excuse for him, since I won't go. I don't like fast food hamburgers in general or In-N-Out french fries in particular, and that's all they serve. Most people like their food, so I *may* be the weird one.

While I'm on the subject of food, we went to breakfast one morning at The Broken Yolk, and they have a 12-egg omlet that they challenge anyone to eat within one hour and it's on the house. We sat next to a table with THREE military guys who decided to try it! On a pizza-sized platter: 12 eggs scrambled with cheese, topped with chili and more cheese, a huge load of hashbrowns, and two gigantic biscuits. Needless to say, their table was completely covered with food. Plus they ordered sodas and alcohol, too. None of them even came close to finishing, of course, but we got some good laughs watching them try. :)

Our one major outing during Mom & Dad's visit was an afternoon at SeaWorld. We all have annual passes, and it was a fun way to spend our Saturday.

Dan's parents got a photo with a couple of our nephews' favorite celebrities :)

We saw all the shows. They had really impoved the dolphin show since the last time we saw it in May. The photo shows a guy jet-skiing on the backs of two dolphins!

We went to several animal exhibits, too.

And Mom & Dad treated Dan & I to a delicious meal at the Cheesecake Factory. My favorite!

On the Saturday during the Jesters' visit, we were planning to attend our church friends' (James & Corrine's) beachside wedding. Unfortunately, Saturday was one of the rainiest days we've seen in San Diego! It poured non-stop, and we knew that James & Corrine didn't have a back-up location, so we bundled up, drove over there, and wondered "What do you do when you plan an outdoor wedding and it's raining?" The answer is: "Buy some umbrellas and get hitched!"

I love seeing the groom's face when his bride is walking towards him!

Saying "I Do"

More people showed up than we were expecting to see, but I'm sure more friends would've come if the weather had been nice. Some guests still went all out with their outfits (dresses, high heels, etc.), but I'll bet they weren't nearly as warm & dry as we were! ha!
