The Jersey Shore

We had a family getaway in Wildwood, NJ with my parents, my brother, Steve, his wife, Sheila, and their kids, Meera and Rowan.  Steve and Sheila had the fantastic idea of meeting midway between our homes (Virginia Beach and Boston) to celebrate my mom's birthday this summer.  We had so much fun and loved watching our kids play together all day and night.  We stayed at a townhouse one block from the boardwalk and beach. We had a few storms that weekend, but we still got plenty of beach time.  Here are photos of our vacation!

My parents rode with us and we rode the Lewes-Cape May ferry to New Jersey. It broke up the drive and we enjoyed the views of the water along the way.

The morning after we arrived, we hit the beach! It was a bit too windy for Rowan, but the rest of us had a blast!

The main event was celebrating my mom's birthday!  She's 70 years young, and is very, very loved.

My mom's cousins, Mike and Gisella, came to visit one afternoon, too.

It was so nice to be together. We sure wish we were closer and could see each other more regularly!

These kids had a blast together all weekend!

It was the first time Dan, Emma, Hallie, and I got to meet Rowan! (My parents met him in Boston this spring.) At 5 months old, he's laid back, smiley, chubby, and adorable! He was kind of a big deal all weekend.

We had fun on the boardwalk, too. There were restaurants and shops near us, and a tram to ride to the end of the boardwalk where there was an amusement park.

Staying up late to watch the beach fireworks show

We took the kids to the amusement park to ride rides and eat carnival food.

It was sad to say goodbye at the end of our trip, but we loved all the memories we made!
